The Anderson Ranch Dam impounds Anderson Ranch Reservoir which has a total storage capacity of 474,900 acre-feet (active 413,100 acre-feet) and was the world’s highest earth fill dam at the time of its completion in 1950.  Anderson Ranch Dam is located on the South Fork of the Boise River, 18.4 miles north northeast of Mountain Home, ID.  Completion of the Anderson Dam in 1950 permanently changed the character of the South Fork Boise River as a naturally flowing water feature.
